Program Development
The Center for Biotechnology and Genomics is an integrated component of the international biotechnology and genome research community. Strong cooperative ties have been forged with academic institutions, federal laboratories, and companies in Texas and throughout the region.
The Center provides:
- Multidisciplinary graduate studies in Biotechnology and Genomics.
- Masters in Biotechnology technician training program.
- Biotechnology and Genomics seminar program.
Seed grant support for innovative research projects.
- Instrumentation for biotechnology and genomics research including automated DNA sequencers and robotics for automated PCR reactions and DNA arrays.
Center Partnerships:
The Center for Biotechnology and Genomics receives substantial University investment for infrastructure and research support.
The Center has ongoing research programs in plant biotechnology and genomics and partnerships with state and local agricultural agencies, commodity groups and producers have been established.
The Center has close ties with the USDA/Texas Tech National Plant Stress Laboratory, the International Cotton Research Center and the International Textile Research Center.
Center members have research funding from: NSF, NIH, USDA, Human Frontier Science Program, BARD, McKnight Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Welch Foundation and Industry.
The Center for Biotechnology and Genomics exemplifies the new spirit at Texas Tech University, the University of Champions.
